According to provincial price monitoring center monitoring, since the third quarter, affected by factors such as hot and humid weather and the approaching Mid-Autumn Festival, the retail price of eggs in our province has increased slightly for two consecutive months. By the end of August, the province’s egg price was 5.95 yuan per 500 grams, up 1.36% over the previous month, and up 6.25% from 5.6 yuan two months ago, approaching the 6 yuan mark.
In the Guangzhou market, the cumulative increase in eggs since the first month or so has approached 10%. In the past three weeks, the average retail price in the Guangzhou market was RMB 11.31 per kg in the first week, up 0.35% from the previous week; the average retail price was RMB 11.36/kg, up 0.44%; this week, the average retail price of eggs was RMB 11.39/ Kilograms, up 0.18%, narrowed slightly.
According to the reporter’s visit, the retail price of eggs in the Shipai market has increased from RMB 9.5/kg on August 12 to RMB 11.40/kg now, and the retail price of bulk new eggs in the Baohua Fresh Market has reached RMB 11.80/kg.
The provincial price monitoring center predicts that as the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, it is expected that the price of eggs in our province in early September will not rule out the possibility of breaking the 6-yuan mark. After the National Day, the price of eggs may fall slightly, but overall it will remain high in the second half of the year and it is expected that there will be a significant drop after the Spring Festival next year.
