Bayer's new generation of free-adjustable blood glucose meter

Release date: 2009-04-22

Recently, a new generation of free-coded blood glucose meter Contour TS will be held in Shanghai. This is Bayer Diabetes Health's new initiative after the introduction of the industry's leading blood glucose meter in 2006, Bai An Jie and Bai An Yi. The Bayan Kang blood glucose meter uses a code-free technology, which has a wide range of applications and strong anti-interference characteristics. It is a new blood glucose meter for the hospital market. This blood glucose meter is the embodiment of Bayer Diabetes Health's “Simply Win” strategy.

At the IPO, Professor Ji Qiuhe, the chief physician of the Endocrinology Department of Xijing Hospital, pointed out that the factors affecting the accuracy of blood glucose monitoring mainly include operational error, code input error, improper blood collection, unclean blood glucose meter, test paper, and hematocrit deviation. Other factors such as the influence of other sugars in the blood and internal and external sources. Among these factors, deviations are most common due to patients forgetting to change codes or code input errors, and are more common in elderly patients.

According to research data, 16% of patients have entered the code incorrectly, causing the test paper to mismatch with the instrument, resulting in errors in the test results. Error-coded errors can cause a median error in blood glucose test results of up to 43% and may miss potential hypoglycemic events. When the patient uses Biancon to test blood glucose, the instrument will automatically calibrate after replacing the new batch test strip, without entering the code, to avoid deviation of the test result due to input error code or forgetting to replace the old code.

In addition, the general blood glucose monitoring system has two sources of interference, glucose-like substances (such as maltose, galactose, and xylose) and other reducing substances that cross-react with other sugars. The new Bayan Kang test paper uses the FAD dehydrogenase system to eliminate the cross-reaction of maltose and galactose caused by the PQQ dehydrogenase system, which will greatly improve the accuracy of blood glucose monitoring and reduce the risk of clinical drug use.

Mr. Shi Wei, General Manager of Bayer Diabetes Health Greater China, said that this new blood glucose meter not only has outstanding performance in accuracy, simplicity and speed, but also is a cost-effective product for Chinese diabetic patients. .

In view of the important role of blood glucose monitoring, the accuracy and convenience of an accurate blood glucose meter for patients and medical staff is self-evident. As Mr. Ke Longzhi, Vice President of Bayer Diabetes Health Asia, said at the meeting: “In 2009, 'Simplified and Win' will serve as the global brand positioning of Bayer Diabetes Healthcare and the company's development strategy throughout the year. The so-called 'simplified win' It is to use Bayer's innovative products and perfect customer service to simplify the lives of people with diabetes, and bring good news for Chinese patients to easily control diabetes and win back healthy life."
