Cyanogen Insensitive Breathing of Litchi Fruit

The effects of respiratory pathways and ethephon treatment on the respiration of non-jumping Litchi fruits at different maturity levels proved that clove-insensitive caffeine inhalation was observed in Litchi fruits. The test material was fruit with different degrees of ripeness of the lychee variety Guiwei. Studies have shown that the homogenate or tissue respiration of litchi fruit skin and pulp is inhibited by KCN and SHAM, and propyl gallate also has the similar effect of inhibiting cyanide-insensitive respiration with SHAM. The ratio of cyanogen-insensitive respiration was related to the maturity of the fruit, and the unripe greens were higher than those of the semi-ripe and mature fruits. Ethephon treatment increased pre-mature fruit respiration but decreased the cyanide-insensitive respiration rate. DNP has a slight stimulatory effect on the total respiration and cyanogen-insensitive respiration of green fruits, but it only significantly stimulates the total respiration rate for mature fruits.
