Autumn is the peak season for farmers to purchase pigs. Due to the cool autumn weather, it is suitable for piglet growth and development. However, the newly purchased piglets are often unable to adapt and are in stress, and the performance of various systems of the body is disturbed. If you delay the growth of the piglet, it will cause various diseases and may even lead to death. Recently, the reporter interviewed a member of the expert advisory group of the newspaper and Yang Heping, professor of the Animal Engineering Branch of Yangling Vocational Technical College, and asked him to support the farmers.
Disinfection first, Yang Heping told reporters that before buying piglets, pig farmers should clean the pens first, especially for the pens that have already had epidemic diseases, but they must be thoroughly disinfected and disinfected with 2% caustic soda water. 5% to 10% of Lysol or 10% of peracetic acid should be disinfected 3 days before the arrival of the piglets.
Feeding Yang Heping on time indicated that on the first day of purchasing piglets, he should first feed 0.1% potassium permanganate solution, or add antibiotics to drinking water, and supply sufficient clean drinking water. For the second feeding, feed a suitable amount of green or juicy or pelleted feed. Beginning on the second day, some fodder can be gradually added so that the piglets can eat 78% full. After 3 to 5 days, the piglet is basically adapted to the feeding environment and can be transferred to normal feeding, allowing it to feed freely, adding doxycycline to the piglet's diet, and adding 0.4 to 0.8 grams per head per day to prevent the piglet from squatting. Yang Heping suggested that in order to enhance the gastrointestinal adaptability of piglets, it is also possible to add yeast powder or soda tablets to the feed.
After the deworming, the group of pigs to be piglets are observed for 7 to 10 days. After confirming that all the piglets are normal, the unvaccinated piglets should be immunized with swine fever, swine erysipelas, and swine plague. After 15-30 days of feeding alone, if there is no disease, levamisole hydrochloride tablets are taken as an oral repellent at 25-30 mg/kg body weight. After being mothed for 3 to 5 days, the piglets showed no signs of abnormalities and signs of illness. They could rest assured that they were polycultured with other piglets. Yang Heping reminded farmers that if they have abnormal performance and signs of illness, they must be careful to observe, wait patiently, and must not rush to gregarious. Be sure to wait until confident that there is no disease before breeding in groups so as to avoid cross-infection of the disease, resulting in major losses.
