Sewage treatment MBR process

MBR process

MBR is a new wastewater treatment process that combines membrane separation technology with bioreactors. Compared with the secondary sedimentation tank in the traditional activated sludge process, the solid-liquid separation can be overcome, which overcomes the shortcomings of the conventional process that the effluent water quality is not stable enough and the sludge is easy to expand.

Advantages of MBR:

Strong anti-impact load capacity, stable effluent quality, complete removal of SS, good retention of bacteria and viruses

The complete separation of the reactor hydraulic retention time (HRT) sludge age (SRT) makes the operation control more flexible and stable; the microbial concentration in the bioreactor is high, which can be as high as 10g/L or more, and the treatment device has a high volume load and covers an area. Small, reducing the volume required for nitrification

MBR excess sludge production is low, even without excess sludge discharge, reducing sludge treatment costs

It is beneficial to the retention and growth of microorganisms with slow proliferation, and the system nitrification efficiency is improved. It can prolong the hydraulic retention time of some refractory organics in the system, which is beneficial to the improvement of degradation efficiency of refractory organics.

MBR wastewater treatment process description

After entering the regulation tank through the grid, the sewage enters the bioreactor through the lift pump, and the aerator is turned on by the PLC controller to oxygenate. The bioreactor effluent enters the membrane separation treatment unit through the circulation pump, and the concentrated water returns to the adjustment tank, and the membrane separates the water. After rapid mixing chlorination (sodium hypochlorite, chlorine tablets), enter the water storage tank. The backwashing pump uses the treated water in the washing tank to backwash the membrane processing equipment, and the backflushing water returns to the conditioning tank. The pump is controlled to open and close by the water level in the bioreactor. The filtration and backwashing operations of the membrane unit can be controlled automatically or manually. When the membrane unit requires chemical cleaning operation, close the inlet valve and the sewage circulation valve, open the drug washing valve and the reagent circulation valve, start the liquid circulation pump, and perform chemical cleaning operation.

MBR process characteristics

Membrane biological treatment technology is applied to wastewater recycling and has the following characteristics:

(1) The solid-liquid separation can be performed to separate the suspended matter, the colloidal substance, and the microbial flora lost in the biological unit from the purified water. The separation process is simple, the floor space is small, and the effluent water quality is good. Generally, it can be reused without three-stage treatment.

(2) The biomass in the biological treatment unit can be maintained at a high concentration, the volumetric load is greatly improved, and the membrane separation property is greatly shortened, and the hydraulic retention time of the treatment unit is greatly shortened, and the footprint of the bioreactor is correspondingly reduced.

(3) It can prevent the growth of various microbial flora, and is beneficial to the growth of bacteria (nitrifying bacteria, etc.) with slow growth rate, so that various metabolic processes in the system can proceed smoothly.

(4) The residence time of some macromolecules which are difficult to degrade organic matter becomes longer, which is beneficial to their decomposition.

[5] Membrane treatment technology is the same as other filtration separation technologies. During long-term operation, the membrane is blocked as a filter medium, and the membrane is gradually reduced by the running time of the water. Effective backwashing and chemical cleaning can slow down the membrane flux. The decline in the maintenance of the effective life of the MBR system.

(6) MBR technology is applied in urban sewage treatment. Due to its simple process and convenient operation, it can realize fully automatic operation management.
