A Japanese research team announced on the 10th that they have successfully developed a new type of high-efficiency deep ultraviolet sterilizing LED lamp, which has the advantages of small size, power saving, environmental protection and long life compared with traditional low-pressure mercury lamps.
According to the Japan News Agency website on the 10th, in the medical and food fields, low-pressure mercury lamps are often used for sterilization. However, because mercury is easily harmful to the environment, researchers have been hoping to find environmentally-friendly alternatives with excellent performance. Deep ultraviolet light is a kind of ultraviolet light with a relatively short wavelength, and the efficiency of killing bacteria and viruses is relatively high.
The brightness, luminous efficiency and service life of deep ultraviolet LED lamps with a wavelength of around 260 nm are affected by the crystallization of the substrate. A research team composed of Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology and Deshan Chemical Co., Ltd. has developed a technology that can produce high-purity aluminum nitride crystals, thereby obtaining the high-performance substrate crystallization, ensuring the sterilization effect and service life of LED lamps. .
According to reports, this new type of deep ultraviolet LED lamp can work only with dry batteries, and can be used for portable sterilization devices and sterilization of culture fluids. This technology has obtained basic patents in Japan and the United States. Deshan Chemical Co. plans to further improve its product performance and strive to bring its products to market in 2015.
