Professor Martin, director of obstetrics and gynecology at Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, pointed out that the incidence of cervical cancer in China is 15/10 million. In recent years, the incidence of cervical cancer is obviously younger and the number of early-stage patients has increased.
Studies have shown that inpatients with cervical cancer account for nearly 60% of those aged 45 years or younger, and 16.0% of those under 35 years of age, which is significantly higher than the ratio of 10.5% from 1990 to 1999. The average age of onset of cervical cancer is 44.7 years. The average age of the patients is 5 years old to 10 years younger than 2000 years ago. The results also show that there are more patients in the early stages of cervical cancer.
According to analysis by Professor Martin, the main reasons for the youthful tendency of cervical cancer include lifestyle changes and early sexual life. The proportion of patients with early cervical cancer increased significantly. The reasons include accelerated urbanization and increased awareness of women's disease prevention. It also shows that China has made great achievements in the early diagnosis of cervical cancer.
According to the person in charge of the Department of Maternal and Child Health and Community Health of the Ministry of Health, in 2009, China launched a major public health service project including the “two cancers†inspection program for rural women. From 2009 to 2011, a total of 11.69 million rural-age women received free cervical cancer screening and patients with related lesions were promptly detected and treated. In July this year, the country launched a new round of "two cancers" inspection program (2012 to 2015) and plans to conduct cervical cancer screening for 10 million rural women each year.
