In Beijing Children's Hospital, the number of outpatient visits has increased from 1.2 million to 2.65 million in the past ten years. "2012 China Health Statistics Summary" shows that in 2011 the country's pediatricians about 96,000 people, about 205,000 pediatric beds. The latest census results show that at present, there are 220 million children under the age of 14 in China. On average, there are only 0.43 physicians and 0.93 beds per 1,000 children. If the standard is raised to 1 ,, there will be more than 100,000 pediatricians in China.

Another data shows that Beijing’s resident population has increased by more than 200,000 children each year, while the number of pediatricians in the city has increased by only 411 in the past 10 years. Chen Xiaohong, vice president of the Chinese Hospital Association, said that the average number of pediatric graduates is only about 300 each year.

Xiaohong Chen: In the past, some medical colleges had good pediatric departments. However, because no one would be willing to become a pediatrician after graduation, they are shrinking. As a result, there are only more than 300 pediatricians graduated each year in the country in the past 15 years. So can pediatricians not be nervous?

In such big cities as Beijing and Shanghai, pediatricians have a huge gap. Some parents from other provinces and cities visit the big cities to see specialist hospitals and see famous experts. Pediatrics in general hospitals are not favored. Special hospitals are under greater pressure to attend.

Beijing Children's Hospital, 70% of the patients come from other provinces and cities in the country. Among the people who queue up for the registration of children, a considerable number are parents who come from other places. Because the local hospitals cannot see the difficult diseases, they need to hang up experts. They come to this famous national children's hospital, but some parents come to visit. In Beijing, it has been more than half a month.

According to statistics, the number of outpatients and discharged people in the Beijing Children's Hospital and the Capital Institute of Specialized Medicine in 2012 accounted for 47% and 51% of the city's pediatric visits, respectively, of which 70% were foreign children. Doctors' daily average of emergency visits was 50 to 60, and the peak of winter and spring visits reached hundreds.

In order to alleviate the difficult situation of children's visits to the doctors, 12 general hospitals in Beijing have set up pediatric outpatient clinics, but not many patients come to see them. In many pediatric outpatient clinics, about 400 visits are performed every week, and the number of outpatient visits per day is around 40. However, these outpatient visits were not as expected, and the admission pressure on specialized children's hospitals was diverted. The insiders of the health system told reporters that everyone is still accustomed to the Beijing Children's Hospital and the Capital Institute of Pediatrics. The number of pediatricians in general hospitals is relatively small.

Insiders: It seems that people are not too trusting in the paediatric departments of general hospitals, so they still cling to children's hospitals and children's research centers. The paediatric capacity of our large general hospitals is still relatively strong, so some common diseases can go to the pediatrics of these general hospitals. Do not go to children's hospital with any disease, causing overcrowding. Especially in the winter, respiratory infectious diseases are more easily transmitted. Under such congested conditions, it is not conducive to the physical health of our children.

Many people in the industry pointed out that the basic reason for children's difficulties is that they lack quality pediatricians. Relevant data show that at present, the pediatricians in China have a shortfall of nearly 200,000 people, and that every 3,000 children can have a pediatrician. In Germany and the United States, there is one pediatrician for every 300 and 400 children.

Why do pediatricians have such a big gap? There is a dogger in the medical profession called "gold eye surgery, silver surgery, and the worst of the worst is pediatrics." Pediatrics are also referred to as "dumb" subjects, and children do not express it. The condition changes rapidly. If a medical condition is not properly solved, a medical accident will occur. Doctors will be under pressure and the brain drain will be serious. In addition, there are many common pediatric diseases. Half of them are common colds, fevers, and diarrhea. Checks are rare and the dosage is small. If hospitals rely mainly on the “medication with medicine” system, even if the pediatrician works hard, the income is still less than Peer.
