How to control the "mortality" of newly purchased piglets

Newly-acquired piglets have decreased resistance and increased mortality due to stress state factors such as weighing, transportation, hunger, gregariousness, feeding environment, feeding patterns, and feed changes. It is particularly important to adopt comprehensive measures to effectively control the mortality rate of newly-purchased piglets and reduce the economic losses of farmers. After many years of practice, the author has worked out a set of methods and is now organized as follows for your reference.

1. Get ready for the shed. During the circling period, clean the water in the house, walkway, feeding trough, wall, ditch, utensils, etc. After drying, use 2-3% of caustic soda water, 5-10% of the Soviet Union children or other disinfectants to prepare spray disinfection according to the proportion (concentration ratio of the manger and utensils is described as follows).

2, not remotely trafficked piglets. Practice has proved that because of long-distance transportation, pigs have a large stress response, coupled with poor management, low survival rate, and individual small piglets have a higher mortality rate, even as high as 40%.

3, not introduced from the epidemic area. To investigate the immune status of the exported pigs, check the immune identity, archives, etc., and conditionally check the card using antibodies such as swine foot-and-mouth disease, swine fever, and blue-ear disease.

4, handle the relevant procedures to ensure smooth transportation. Before transporting piglets, strictly disinfect the transport vehicles; the transported piglets must be quarantined by the animal quarantine inspection agency of the exporting animal epidemic prevention agency, and issue a “Qualification Certificate for Animal Quarantine Out of the County”, “Disinfection Certificate for the Delivery Vehicle”, and “Proof of the Non-epidemic Area of Foot-and-Mouth Disease”. "Before departure.

5, provide clean drinking water. After the piglets reach the input place, they are bred in groups of the size of the body weight, and on the first day they supply clean drinking water and add vitamin C, electrolytes, and a small amount of antibiotics (such as amoxicillin, fluocin, ciprofloxacin, etc.) in drinking water.

6, strictly implement the feed, feeding and feeding methods "three transitions." Practice has shown that proper hunger in newly-purchased piglets contributes to the prevention of intestinal diseases. On the first day, only feed water was not fed. On the second day, feed about 2% of the body weight. Observe the feed intake and feces of the pigs. The third day was increased by about 0.5 to 1% on the basis of the original, and recovered within 7 days. 4-5% of body weight. When some of the pigs are diarrhea, they can feed a full-price, fully cooked, extruded feed with low protein content.

7, timely immunization. After 7-10 days of observation, piglets, pig blue ear disease, and pig's mouth hoof vaccine should be promptly supplemented to determine the normal piglet spirit and appetite. During the injection of vaccine, vitamin C was added to the drinking water, and the amount of feed should be reduced. Close observation was conducted and the adverse reactions of the pigs were found to be timely and symptomatic.

8, isolation and deworming. Control the rearing density, reasonably reduce the number of fights by grouping, and pigs, pigs, tails, screaming, etc., should be kept separately for individual pigs with poor breeding habits. No abnormalities of piglets at two months old can be used for deworming. Drug selection: Iraq Vermectin, avermectin, levamisole, etc.
