Rotary evaporator use and precautions

The rotary evaporator is mainly used to continuously distill a large amount of volatile solvents under reduced pressure, such as a distillation extract and a receiving liquid for chromatographic separation. The basic principle of a rotary evaporator is the vacuum distillation of the distillation flask under continuous rotation. As a heat source for distillation, it is often equipped with a corresponding constant temperature water tank.

Instructions:

1. Turn on the low temperature coolant circulation pump. Note that press the power button and then press the cooling button to lower the desired temperature and then cycle.

2. Turn on the pump to circulate water.

3. Install the distillation flask and secure it with a clamp. Turn on the vacuum pump and start rotating after a certain vacuum.

4. Adjust the height and rotation speed of the distillation flask and set the appropriate water bath temperature.

5. After the steaming is finished, stop the rotation, then pass the atmosphere, then stop the pump, and then remove the distillation flask.

6. Stop the low temperature coolant circulating pump, stop the water bath to heat, turn off the pump circulating water, pour out the solvent in the receiving bottle, wash the buffer ball, and receive the bottle.

Precautions:

1. When using, first draw a small vacuum (about 0.03MPa), then rotate to prevent the distillation flask from slipping; when stopping, stop rotating, hand-receive the flask, pass the atmosphere, and wait until the vacuum is reduced to 0.04MPa. Stop the vacuum pump to prevent the distillation bottle from falling off and sucking back.

2. Each interface, sealing surface, sealing ring and joint need to be coated with a layer of vacuum grease before installation.

3. The heating tank must be filled with water before it is energized. It is not allowed to dry without water.

4. If the degree of vacuum is too low, check the airtightness of each joint, vacuum tube and glass bottle.

5. When steaming the air sensitive substance, connect a nitrogen balloon to the exhaust port, first pass a nitrogen gas, discharge the air in the rotary steamer, and then connect the sample vial to steam. After the steaming, the nitrogen pressure is raised, the pump is turned off, and then the sample bottle is taken out and sealed.

6. If the sample viscosity is very large, the rotation speed should be slowed down, and the Zui should be slowly rotated manually to form a new liquid surface to facilitate solvent evaporation. How to use the rotary evaporator: firstly rotate the lifting screw manually, and screw it down clockwise to the low temperature. Connect the steaming bottle and clamp it with the clamp. Open the switch~ Adjust the speed to about 100 (the speed is between 60~150)~ Adjust the temperature to about 40 degrees. After the temperature is stable, increase the temperature to about 60 degrees. Take out the steaming liquid and put it in the oven for drying (the whole process is about one hour).
