VoxelCloud focuses on building medical image artificial intelligence maps: getting millions of dollars in investment
VxelCloud founder Ding Xiaowei confirmed that in April 2017, he completed a million-dollar A-round financing. This round of financing was exclusively invested by Sequoia Capital, and Huaxing Alpha was the exclusive financial advisor.
This round of financing will be used for the deployment of artificial intelligence medical image reading services, marketing, CFDA registration of finished products, and scientific research advantages of technical methodology.
VoxelCloud's main company is Suzhou Voxel Information Technology Co., Ltd., which is positioned in the next generation of artificial intelligence medical industry, dedicated to accurate and personalized medical diagnosis services based on deep learning. In September 2016, it announced the completion of the $5.5 million angel round of financing from two Chinese investment institutions.
At present, VoxelCloud has 25 employees and 20 technicians. Ding Xiaowei said that the company's team members are from the University of California at Los Angeles, West-Senna Medical Center, Mayo Medical Center, Siemens (USA), GE, Carnegie Mellon University, Arizona State University, Northwestern University, Peking University Shanghai Jiaotong University and Xi'an Jiaotong University are highly active scientists and medical experts in the fields of medical image analysis, computer vision, and machine learning.

Ding Xiaowei is an expert in medical image analysis and machine learning research. He received a Bachelor of Information Engineering from Shanghai Jiaotong University and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from California University of California (UCLA) in 2012 and 2015. He joined the University of California in 2016. He is an assistant researcher (research assistant professor) at the Computer Science Department of the University of Los Angeles. He has worked in the Artificial Intelligence Medical Project and the Biomedical Imaging Institute at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in the United States and has served as a reviewer and editor of numerous industry conferences and magazines.
Demetri Terzopoulos, one of the co-founders, is a Distinguished Professor of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Director of the Computer Vision and Graphics Laboratory; a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Sciences, a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Sciences, Guggenheim, the American Computer Society (ACM), and American Electronics Academician of the Institute of Electrical Engineering (IEEE), a scholar of Chinese foreign thousand planners; listed by ISI, Google Scholar and other academic rankings as one of the most cited engineering scholars in the world.
